The atomic structure

This topic introduces learners to the basic structure of an atom. Students will explore the three main subatomic particles: protons, neutrons, and electrons—including their charges, locations within the atom, and relative masses. The concept of the nucleus and electron shells or energy levels will be explained. Learners will also understand how the atomic number and mass number relate to the number of subatomic particles, and how these determine the identity and properties of elements. The topic lays the foundation for understanding chemical bonding, reactions, and the periodic table.

    Common Questions and Resources

What are the basic requirements for usernames?

New usernames have two basic requirements:

      • They must be at least five characters long and start with a letter
      • Only letters and numbers can be used; no special characters, spaces nor symbols

All usernames at Ademia are unique. If you try to pick one that is already in use, that username will be rejected. Try a new one!

Moreover, we strongly encourage that you do not use real names or any other information that could be used to identify someone when creating a username or background biography, or in general when posting questions or answers.
